Pollution is a global environmental concern across many marine environments, with many forms of human derived pollutants entering our seas. These include man-made chemicals and pharmaceuticals, plastics and litter, waste- water, agriculture run-off and nutrients, marine noise, and artificial light. In this session we would like to explore the research being delivered across Plymouth that identifies the causes, impacts, and potential solutions to these pollution problems.”This research dialogue is open to those engaged in research around keeping our seas clean and based at Plymouth Marine Laboratory, the Marine Biological Association and the University of Plymouth, the three partner organizations of Marine Research Plymouth. We also encourage researchers from those organizations to attend shodul they like to know more about this topic and how it might connect with their own research.
The purpose of the Marine Research Plymouth Dialogues is to build a culture of communication and collaboration across our marine research community, creating a more exciting and effective academic environment within which we can conduct our research. Ultimately leading to tangible benefits of new collaborative projects, studentships, and publications. It will include 12–15 presentations (10 minutes each) showcasing the work of various groups, or individuals, that are relevant to this topic. The talks will be followed by an opportunity for extended informal discussions over wine and nibbles.
