JOIN ONLINE: PML’s Professor Steve Widdicombe, Professor Helen Findlay, Professor Matt Frost and Jennifer Lockett will be teaching at the Marine Monitoring for Action (MMA) workshop – alongside other invited marine experts from Singapore, the UK and Southeast Asia – to share how marine monitoring data can be used to shape policy and management, global efforts for marine observations, impacts of ocean acidification and efforts for mitigation, and the importance of effective science communication.
Organised by St. John’s Island National Marine Laboratory (SJINML) and Marine Environment Sensing Network (MESN), a total of 10 talks will be streamed live from the MMA workshop! Find out more and get involved below.
Date: 7–10 October 2024 (Mon–Thurs)

More about the MMA workshop:
The seas connect societies and support human existence. Marine monitoring is the bedrock for securing ocean health, health of marine life and human health. In addition to being crucial to the understanding of natural biogeochemical processes driving coastal and ocean systems, marine monitoring is increasingly required as part of legislation and good governance. There is growing recognition of the importance of regional scale marine environment monitoring to safeguard our shared waters. This workshop will consider how marine environment monitoring at different spatiotemporal scales enables effective ocean management and implementation of national, regional and international ocean policies.
