"It’s an honour to work with PML on OARS (Ocean Acidification Research for Sustainability), a programme which addresses the SDG Target 14.3. “Minimise and address the impacts of Ocean Acidification, including through enhanced scientific cooperation at all levels”. I’m excited to be working at PML, surrounded by inspiring people and world-leading research! "
Amy is a project manager and science communicator with experience in managing international projects addressing pressures on the marine environment. She started her career working on projects addressing plastic pollution from abandoned, lost, and discarded fishing gear. During this time, she became aware of the need for better collaboration between stakeholders, more efficient and effective knowledge exchange, as well as impactful communication of issues and solutions, to drive change.
Amy now has a particular interest in addressing the impacts of increasing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions on marine life and the sustainability of marine ecosystems. In September 2023, she joined PML and the international community working on the Ocean Acidification Research for Sustainability (OARS) programme. The OARS programme aims to provide systematic evidence of the impacts of ocean acidification on the sustainability of marine ecosystems, enhance ocean acidification capacity, increase observations of ocean chemistry changes, enhance the communication to policy makers and communities by providing the information needed to mitigate and adapt to ocean acidification, and to facilitate the development and evaluation of strategies to offset future impacts.
