PML’s Professor Andy Rees is an invited speaker at a special roundtable discussion focused on the vital role the Falkland Islands has in advancing scientific knowledge, particularly in the fields of marine science, ecology, and climate research, thanks to the Islands unique and biodiverse environment in the South Atlantic.
Chaired by Peter Dowd MP, the meeting will take place on Tuesday 10th June 2025 at Portcullis House. The roundtable includes the following special guests:
∙ Dr Paul Brickle, South Atlantic Environmental Research Institute (SAERI)
∙ Prof. Andy Rees, Plymouth Marine Laboratory
∙ Prof. Chris Evans, UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology
∙ Dr Simon Morley, British Antarctic Survey
The meeting will be an excellent opportunity to hear from leading figures engaged in cutting edge research projects based in the South Atlantic. In addition, SAERI’s ability to deliver high-quality science is greatly enhanced through collaborations with research institutes across Europe, the United States, and South America, allowing SAERI to deliver research across other UK Overseas Territories, as well as internationally. There will then be an opportunity to ask questions and to engage in a roundtable discussion.
