Dr Shauna Ward-Corr is an environmental scientist whose work focuses on understanding and monitoring change in marine ecosystems using molecular and data-driven approaches. She has experience across applied research, commercial analytical laboratories, and regulatory settings, allowing her to bridge fundamental science and practical environmental decision-making.
Her doctoral research explored host–microbe interactions in marine systems, examining how environmental change influences seaweed-associated microbial communities. Through this work, she developed strong expertise in environmental DNA (eDNA), microbial ecology, and bioinformatic analysis for ecosystem monitoring.
Beyond academia, Shauna has contributed to high-throughput laboratory operations, method development, and quality-assured data production, as well as technical reporting to support environmental assessment. Alongside her professional work, she is actively engaged in marine conservation and citizen science initiatives, with a commitment to supporting marine biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.
