Mohammad Shafiul Azam Khan joined Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) in July 2024, focusing on infrastructure management and the development of digital tools and platforms that support marine science. He is an experienced IT systems engineer, software developer and project manager with over a decade of industry experience and a strong background in computer science.
In his current role at PML, Mohammad focuses on the design and development of web-based scientific platforms, geospatial data workflows and decision-support tools. He enjoys combining full-stack web development, geospatial data handling and data-driven approaches to deliver practical and user-friendly solutions that support researchers, policymakers and stakeholders.
Previously, Mohammad worked in the UK as a Data & Information Systems Analyst, applying his technical and analytical expertise to health-focused digital solutions.
Prior to that, he spent over a decade working in the telecommunications (Siemens and Nokia) and software sector in Bangladesh, developing expertise in large-scale systems, infrastructure and project delivery.
