The Atlantic Meridional Transect (AMT) programme has been instrumental in advancing our understanding of planktonic ecosystems in the Atlantic Ocean. Since its inception in 1995, AMT has generated a unique, long-term time series (1995-2023) of spatially extensive and internally consistent data on the structure and biogeochemical properties of these ecosystems. This invaluable dataset plays a crucial role in validating models that address key questions related to the global carbon cycle.

To date, the AMT programme has resulted in the publication of over 300 peer-reviewed journal articles, including contributions to four special issues. In addition, AMT has played a vital role in training the next generation of scientists, with its data contributing to over 100 PhD theses.
