A special event of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3)
The 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), jointly hosted by France and Costa Rica, will take place in Nice from 9–13 June 2025 with experts from Plymouth Marine Laboratory (PML) taking part.
In the lead-up to UNOC3, the Ocean Rise & Coastal Resilience Summit will be held on 7 June in Nice. PML’s Professor Matt Frost will represent the organisation at this important gathering.
As climate change intensifies, coastal cities and regions are on the front lines—facing threats such as erosion, sea-level rise, flooding, storms, extreme rainfall, and drought. The need for urgent, sustainable adaptation has never been greater.
This high-level summit will spotlight the critical need to support coastal territories in building resilience. It will bring together mayors and governors of coastal cities and regions worldwide, along with representatives of island States, and key stakeholders driving adaptation efforts. A major outcome of the event will be the launch of the Ocean Rise & Coastal Resilience Coalition for Cities and Regions.
Attendance is by invitation only, but the event will be livestreamed and open to all online viewers. The full programme and livestream access are available here: https://oceanrise-coalition.org/#summit.
