Brazil will host the 2026 All-Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Alliance (AAORIA) Forum in the vibrant coastal city of Salvador, Bahia, on 15–16 April 2026.
PML’s Professor Kerry Howell will present to the Forum delegated on ‘Atlantic-scale coordination to map seafloor marine life’ in addition to co-leading a side event with with the South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) on ‘From Pixels to Policy: Unlocking the Atlantic Ocean’s Benthic Biodiversity Data’.

The Forum is the Alliance’s flagship annual gathering, bringing together the Atlantic Community. The Forum aims to showcase AAORIA’s scientific coordination in addressing ocean challenges.
Building on the success of the previous Forums, the 2026 gathering will advance the All-Atlantic Declaration through ocean science international cooperation, and collaborative action.
It is hosted by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI) and SENAI CIMATEC, where the event will take place. It is also supported by the OKEANO Coordination and Support Action (CSA).
