PML Visiting Fellow Elvira Poloczanska will take part in the IMBeR Synthesis and Future Planning Conference (Future Oceans 3), an endorsed United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development activity, 13-16 May, 2025, Shanghai, China and online.
This pivotal event will bring together IMBeR’s diverse science teams, representatives from international organizations, policymakers, and early career researchers to reflect on the past decade-long achievements, share rich collaborative experiences, and shape the future of marine biosphere research.
IMBeR, which stands for Integrated Marine Biosphere Research, is a large global research project which focuses on ocean sustainability in the context of global change. Looking to understand past, present, and future changes to the ocean, and, in particular, how to achieve a sustainable ocean for the benefit of society.
The project supports collaborative, disciplinary, interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and integrated research that addresses key ocean science issues generated by and/or impacting society. Such research is required to provide evidence-based knowledge and guidance, along with options for policy-makers, managers, and marine-related communities, to help achieve sustainability of the marine realm under global change.
