CoastWeb

Valuing the contribution which coasts make to human health and wellbeing, with a focus on alleviation of coastal hazards

CoastWeb Logo

CoastWEB studies the health and wellbeing benefits we derive from our coasts and specific coastal ecosystems such as saltmarshes using a truly interdisciplinary approach including environmental science, environmental economics, environmental and social psychology, art, policy and governance. The project is funded by the UK Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) under the Valuing Nature Programme.

Between 2016 and 2020, CoastWEB will holistically value the contribution which coastal habitats (including saltmarshes) make to human health and wellbeing, with a focus on the alleviation of coastal natural hazards and extreme events.

What are saltmarshes?

Coastal ecosystems, including saltmarshes, provide society with a wide range of ecosystem services and benefits.
