ICES Zooplankton Ecology Working Group annual meeting

Tuesday 6 February 2024 - Friday 9 February 2024

Location: Plymouth Marine Laboratory
This event has now ended and is archived

Members of the ICES Working Group on Zooplankton Ecology (WGZE) and the working group for Integrated Morphological and molecular Taxonomy (WGIMT) will be meeting at PML in February to discuss zooplankton population trends, traits, taxonomy and new methodologies. The groups will also make plans to foster training, outreach and collaborative activities with other ICES expert working groups.

Background information:

The ICES Working Group on Zooplankton Ecology (WGZE) addresses issues of current and future concern and facilitates knowledge exchange within the field of zooplankton ecology. This highly respected group within the oceanographic community has been active for more than 30 years and is one of more than 120 expert groups that operate within ICES. Notable achievements of the group include the production of the Zooplankton Methodology Manual and regular Zooplankton Status Reports. The group meets once a year for its annual meeting and last met at PML in 2015. In February 2024 we will welcome the group once again. As is tradition, the meeting will be held back to back with the ICES working group for Integrated Morphological and molecular Taxonomy (WGIMT). Groups such as WGZE and WGIMT are essential for advancing our understanding of zooplankton community structure and population dynamics in the world’s oceans.
