Scientific and Research 11th Our Ocean Conference Symposium

On 14-15 June 2026, ahead of the 11th Our Ocean Conference (OOC), Kenya will host the first-ever OOC Research Symposium in Mombasa and Kilifi Counties. This dedicated pre-conference event will bring together researchers, policymakers, and innovators to explore how science and evidence can drive practical solutions across the six OOC Areas of Action.

As the first Our Ocean Conference held in Africa, the symposium will highlight the continent’s growing leadership in science-based ocean governance and strengthen the role of research in shaping action at OOC11.

Prof. Matt Frost, Head of PML’s International Office, will take part including engaging on the World Association of Marine Stations (WAMS) with the delegates and presenting a poster on the network.
