OCEANS 2025 Brest conference

Monday 16 June 2025 - Thursday 19 June 2025

Location: Brest, France

PML’s Dr Thomas Mansfield will give a presentation at the OCEANS 2025 Brest conference 16-19 June in France. The conference is for global maritime professionals to learn, innovate and lead in the protection and utilization of the world’s largest natural resource – the OCEAN.

The conference, a UN Ocean Decade event, will see Dr Mansfield sharing the lessons learned in establishing an environmental digital twin. This will include experiences from the SyncED-Ocean programme which is delivering a digital twin demonstrator, combining data from satellite Earth Observation and marine autonomous robots with marine system models to create an optimised virtual coastal ocean ecosystem.

A digital twin is a dynamic virtual copy of a physical asset, process, system or environment that looks like and behaves in real time to reflect its real-world partner. Actions and events can be modelled with unprecedented accuracy, offering the ability to experiment in a non-live environment of the real world.
